Recipe for Scones

This recipe for scones is perfect for summertime as it doesn't require an oven! These sones can be made on the stove and are quick and easy!

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Flour Sifted
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ Cup Shortening
  • Cup Milk

Instructions

  • Preheat griddle or skillet over medium heat or set electric griddle to 325°.
  • Sift flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt together.
  • Cut in shortening until mixture looks like crumbs.
  • Make a hollow in the center.
  • Beat eggs slightly.
  • Combine eggs with milk and stir into hollow in dry ingredients with fork until all ingredients are moistened. Do not overmix.
  • Place on floured board and knead carefully 5 or 6 times.
  • Roll out to ½ inch thick and cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter.
  • Place on ungreased griddle or skillet.
  • Bake approximately 10 minutes on one side then turn and bake approximately 10 minutes on the other side.
