Old-Fashioned Pecan Cake Bars are soft with just the right amount of crunch! Using a yellow cake mix and a few other ingredients, these are simple to make!
Follow directions on package to prepare yellow cake mix.
Pour batter into greased 15x10x1 inch cookie sheet.
Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes.
While bars are baking, cream butter and brown sugar together. Stir in pecans until well blended.
While cake is warm, spread with pecan topping.
Put cake under the broiler until the topping is bubbly (about 3-5 minutes).
Cut into bars.

Place the topping on the bars in small chunks and let it warm up before spreading. It is okay if the bars are thin. They are more like soft cookies than cake.
Chop the pecans into very small pieces for easier spreading.
Check on the bars often when completing the final step in the broiler, otherwise, they will burn. I used my oven light so I could pull them out as soon as the topping started bubbling.
