Cake mix recipes are some of my favorite recipes because they are so easy. This recipe for Old-Fashioned Pecan Cake Bars uses a yellow cake mix and a few other ingredients. It amazes me all of the things you can do with boxed mixes!
What ingredients will you need?
- Yellow Cake Mix (plus ingredients listed on the box to complete)
- Butter
- Brown Sugar
- Chopped Pecans
Helpful Tips for Making Old-Fashioned Pecan Cake Bars
- Place the topping on the bars in small chunks and let it warm up before spreading. It is okay if the bars are thin. They are more like soft cookies than cake.
- Chop the pecans into very small pieces for easier spreading.
- Check on the bars often when completing the final step in the broiler, otherwise, they will burn. I used my oven light so I could pull them out as soon as the topping started bubbling.
