Can I thicken the sauce? Yes, after cooking, you can remove the chicken and thicken the sauce with a cornstarch slurry on the stove if you want it thicker.

Should I brown the chicken before putting it in the slow cooker? Browning isn’t required, but it can add extra flavor and color if you have time.

Helpful Tips

  • Use a slow cooker liner for easy cleanup, especially since the lemonade can make the dish a bit sticky.
  • Don’t forget to taste the sauce before serving. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or a little extra honey if needed.
  • Keep the lid closed while cooking; lifting it lets heat escape and can increase cooking time.
  • Always check the internal temperature of the chicken to ensure it’s fully cooked. 165°F is safe and juicy.
  • If the sauce separates, whisk it well before serving to bring it back together.

  • Refrigerate the chicken within two hours of cooking and use it within 3 to 4 days for best quality.
  • If you want to freeze leftovers, portion the chicken and sauce into freezer-safe containers or bags and freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Thaw frozen chicken overnight in the fridge before reheating for the best texture.
  • Reheat leftovers gently in the microwave or on the stove, adding a splash of water or broth if the sauce has thickened too much.

Substitutions and Variations
